East Devon Counselling Service

About me

I am a qualified Counsellor with a Diploma in Person Centred Counselling from Relate Training.

Having also trained with the Centre for Adolescent Rehabilitation and studied Neuro Linguistic Programming with 'Active Personal Development'.

I also offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and studied with the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre.

I have also trained with ADVA (Against Domestic Violence and Abuse) in Devon and work frequently with survivors of domestic abuse and people currently still in a violent relationship.

I am an Associate Lecturer in Counselling at Exeter College and to see details of the courses run there please follow this link www.exe-coll.ac.uk

Working as a counsellor in a GP surgery, and also in a local Health Centre has provided me with the opportunity of counselling a wide range of people with a variety of issues. I also work with adolescents at a local Secondary school.

I now run my own practice in East Devon.

I work with adults, teenagers and children. I also offer group therapy and training such as 'Assertiveness' together with work aimed at people with issues surrounding food. I have done some work with BEAT (eating disorders association).

I am also employed by a number of Employee Assistance Programmes and so it may be possible to contact me through your workplace who may then pay for any counselling.

I use a variety of approaches tailored to each individual to help improve their ability to cope with their difficulties. I also teach skills and practical ways of dealing with situations. An example of this would be how to prevent panic attacks returning once someone has eliminated them.

I am an individual member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the professional conduct procedure therein.
